Record attendance and complete a session
Updated August 31, 2026
Who can use this
You can record attendance when you are the session supervisor and the scheduled start time has passed.
Submit the session promptly so supervision hours, employer reports, and payment processing use the correct information.
Complete the session
- Open the session from Sessions. After an online call, your Motivo tab may already be on the post-session page.
- Under 1. Mark attendance, choose an outcome for every supervisee: Attended entire session, Partially attended, Cancelled with notice, Late cancellation, or No show. Give a supervisee about 15 minutes past the start time to join before you record a no show.
- For Partially attended, select the actual duration. Only those minutes count toward the supervisee's completed supervision time.
- Under 2. Add notes, complete the fields shown. Notes may be optional, or required for an employer-sponsored program.
- Complete the confirmation shown on the page and select Sign here. If you have not saved an electronic signature before, review and adopt it when prompted.
- Select Submit session.
- Review the date, time, and attendance in the confirmation window, then submit.
Record it within five days
Mark attendance within five days of the session, and ideally before the end of the same calendar week.
Five business days after a session, Motivo marks any session still awaiting attendance as charged and treats every attendee as billable. The supervisee or their employer is billed, but you are not paid, because payment is released only from a session you have completed. You get an email when this happens. Recording the outcome yourself is the only way to be paid for the time.
How attendance affects the record
Only attended time on a completed session adds to a supervisee's Motivo hours. Partially attended uses the duration you enter rather than the full booking length, in five-minute increments.
Partial attendance still pays you the full session rate. Use it when the supervisee arrived late or left early without arranging it with you first.
If you were the one who started late or ended early, choose Attended entire session and use Edit session to change the duration instead. That is also what to do when you agreed in advance to a shorter session and intend to charge less.
Late cancellation and No show mean the supervisee did not attend and the session is still billable, so you are paid for the time you held. Cancelled with notice means nobody is charged and you are not paid. Record what actually happened rather than choosing a label to control a charge.
Correct a submitted session
You can update attendance or notes from the completed session during the 24-hour correction window after the session ends. Use the edit control beside Attendance or the notes section, make the correction, and save again.
After that window closes, contact support@motivohealth.com if the completed record is wrong.
