What happens after you apply?
Updated August 31, 2026
This process applies after you submit the standard supervisor application. A supervisor invited for a specific need may move directly to onboarding.
The supervisor waitlist
Submitting an application places you on the supervisor waitlist. Motivo reviews the waitlist against current supervision needs, including state, license type, availability, and experience.
There is no fixed wait time. You may not hear from Motivo immediately, and an application on the waitlist does not give you access to supervisor tools or make your profile visible in the directory.
Moving to onboarding
When Motivo is ready to move your application forward, someone from the team emails you to arrange a 20-minute video call. It is a two-way conversation rather than a test: we ask about your clinical and supervision experience and explain how supervising through Motivo works, and you can ask whatever you need in order to decide whether it suits you.
Every supervisor in the network has had this call. It is part of how Motivo vets the directory, alongside credential verification and a signed attestation.
If it is a fit on both sides, you will receive an email with Start onboarding process. Use that link to create or access your Motivo account and complete the required onboarding steps.
Onboarding asks you to confirm qualifications, describe the supervision work you can provide, set availability, sign agreements, complete your public profile and impact survey, and connect Stripe for payouts. Finish every required field before selecting Finish onboarding.
Profile review
Completing onboarding sends your profile and credentials for review. The completion screen confirms that your profile is complete, but your profile is not necessarily visible in the directory at that point.
Motivo reviews the information and files you submitted. If something is missing or needs clarification, you may be asked to update it in Settings. Review is manual, so saving a credential does not verify it immediately.
When your profile becomes visible
You will receive an email when your profile is published in the supervisor directory. At that point, your capacity setting controls whether the profile remains visible.
Choose Ready for opportunities or Limited availability when you are open to new supervision relationships. Choosing No bandwidth hides your public profile until you change the setting again. Publishing does not guarantee a particular number of intro calls or supervisees.
