Requesting a session

As of 2024, supervisees are now able to request sessions with supervisors! 🎉

This means that supervisees can send session requests based on the supervisor’s available time slots. Once a session has been proposed, the supervisor will receive a notification to either approve or decline the session.

Once a supervisor has responded to the request, supervisees will be able to see approved sessions in the Upcoming tab of their Sessions page.

đź’ˇ If the supervisor allows instant-booking, the session request will appear immediately on the supervisee's Upcoming tab.

How to request a session

In order to request a session as a supervisee:

  1. Navigate to your dashboard using this link: https://app.motivohealth.com/dashboard
  2. Click 'Sessions' from the nav bar.
  3. Click the pink '+' button on the right side of your sessions page.
  4. Choose the supervisor you'd like to request or book a session with.
  5. Complete Step 1 with your preferences.
  6. On Step 2, navigate to any month and click on any date highlighted in pink.
  7. Choose a time that works for you.
  8. Click 'Request to schedule'. If the supervisor accepts instant booking, the button will say 'Book session'.

Frequently Asked Questions


How will I know if a supervisor declines my session request?

When a supervisor declines a session request, you’ll be notified by email and the request will be automatically removed from the Pending tab of your Sessions page.

I don’t see my supervisor’s name when I click on the plus '+' button.

You will only be able to request sessions with supervisors who:

  • You are actively matched with
  • Have their calendar(s) synced with Motivo

How can I cancel my pending session request?

If you’d like to cancel a pending session request, you can do so by:

  • Navigating to the Pending tab of your Sessions page
  • Finding the session you’d like to cancel
  • Selecting 'Cancel' from the dropdown menu

Once you have cancelled the request, an email will be sent to your supervisor regarding the cancellation.

The supervisor is not available in any of the times that work for me. What should I do?

Feel free to message your supervisor directly through our in-platform chat feature to see if other times can be arranged.

Are there limitations to how many session requests can I make to a supervisor?

There are no limits to how many sessions you can propose to a supervisor!

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

You are only allowed to request individual sessions with a supervisor. Supervisees cannot request dyad or group sessions on behalf of yourself and other supervisees. Dyad and group sessions can only be arranged by the supervisor.
