How do I find a supervisor on Motivo?

You'll be able to search our directory by licensure type, demographic preference, and area of specialty. Once you have found a potential match, you can then schedule a brief introduction call with one of our amazing supervisors to ensure it is an appropriate fit.

What steps does Motivo take to ensure high quality supervision?

Ensuring the quality of our supervisors is of utmost importance to Motivo. Supervisors must go through a vetting process before being accepted to join Motivo. We verify the licensure credentials of each supervisor on our platform. Additionally, all Motivo supervisors sign a legal attestation form to verify that they meet the requirements to supervise in their respective states.

What license types are available through a Motivo supervisor?

We have nearly 1,200 supervisors licensed in most states across the following license and certification types:

Social Workers: LCSW, LMSW, LICSW, etc.
Professional Counselors: LPC, LPCC, LCPC, etc.
Mental Health Counselors: LMHC, LCMHC, etc.
Marriage and Family Therapists: LMFT, LCMFT, etc.
Licensed Psychologists
Addiction Counselors: CADC, CSAC, LADC, LCACD, LCAS, MAC, etc.

How do I know if virtual supervision is allowed in my state?

Good news! Our VP of Compliance, Dr. HerMaya, can provide insight into the clinical supervision rules for your state and license type. Complete this form and we'll get reach out to answer all your compliance questions!

How long does it take to start supervision?

We encourage you to schedule introductory calls with potential supervisors within the first few days of being added to Motivo. Once you find a great match, the supervisor can begin scheduling sessions immediately!

Does Motivo keep track of how many supervision hours you have collected toward licensure?

We sure do! From the supervisee dashboard, you will see a summary of the date, time, duration and type of each supervision session attended through Motivo. Clinicians can export a report of these hours as an Excel or PDF document.

Will the Motivo supervisor complete licensure paperwork that needs to be signed and turned into the board?

Yes! Our supervisors are well-versed in the supervision documentation needs and requirements across all licensure types (LMFT, LCSW, LMHC). They will complete licensure paperwork as needed, at no additional cost.

What is Motivo's supervision session cancellation policy?

Both supervisees and supervisors are to provide 24-hour written notice to their supervisee or supervisor if they are not able to attend a session. If a supervisee cancels with less than 24-hours notice, the session will be billable.

What happens if I decide to switch supervisors?

The beauty of Motivo is that we are committed to helping you find the right supervisor for your unique needs. If you need to make a change, for whatever reason, we can help supervisees find the right fit!

What technology do we need to use Motivo?

Motivo’s platform is accessible from anywhere that you have internet access. Virtual supervision sessions can be joined from a desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone.

Does Motivo offer opportunities to connect with peers?

We totally do! Check out our free Motivo Community right here. The Motivo Community is open to all therapists, at any stage of one’s career. Register and attend our free weekly Peer Groups, view past panel discussions, or interact with other clinicians via the dashboard. We will see you there!
