Chat with supervisees

Chat in your Supervisor Dashboard lets you communicate with supervisees individually or in groups. Conversations stay connected to the right session or opportunity, so communication remains clear, organized, and easy to reference over time. Supervisors use Chat throughout the supervision relationship to coordinate logistics, and share update

Why use the chat feature?

Chat keeps supervision-related conversations in one shared space that’s tied to your work in the dashboard.

Use Chat to:

  • Communicate with potential or active supervisees
  • Coordinate availability and next steps
  • Send session-related reminders or follow-ups
  • Message supervisees individually or as a group

Because Chat is connected to sessions and opportunities, it helps everyone stay aligned and reduces duplicate communication.

How to access Chat

You can access Chat from multiple places in your Supervisor Dashboard, depending on what you’re working on.

You can start or continue a chat from:

  • Messages, where you can see all your conversations
  • A scheduled Session, if supervisees are grouped together
  • A Dyad or Group Opportunity, when supervisees are connected through the same opportunity

Using Group Chat

Group Chat allows you to message multiple supervisees in a single conversation. It’s especially helpful when supervisees are already connected through a session or opportunity.

You can start a group chat by:

  • Selecting multiple supervisees when creating a new chat from Messages
  • Clicking Chat with supervisees from a scheduled session
  • Clicking Chat from a dyad or group opportunity

Once a group chat is created, all included supervisees can participate in the same conversation.

Managing participants in a group chat

As supervision groups change, you can update who’s included in a group chat.

From an existing chat, you can add or remove supervisees at any time. When adding someone, you choose whether to:

  • Add them to the existing conversation so they can see prior messages, or
  • Start a new chat with the updated group

This gives you flexibility while keeping conversations clear and intentional.

How will I know if you have a new message?

After you send a chat message, the supervisee receives an email notification letting them know they have a new message in their dashboard.

Chat also shows system messages when participants are added or removed. You’ll see a notification indicator in your dashboard when new messages arrive.

Who can be included in a group chat? Only supervisees from the same organization or self-pay group can be included. ** Can I mix supervisees from different opportunities in one chat?** No. Chats created from sessions or opportunities stay limited to that specific context.

What happens when a supervision match ends? The supervisee is removed from shared group chats. They can still view past messages but can’t send new ones.

Can I upload files in Chat? File uploads aren’t supported at this time.
