Who we want
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the finance team as we navigate our rapid growth. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, from bookkeeping and reconciliations to financial analysis and reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health of a high-growth start-up.
Motivo has historically outsourced its finance function and we are just starting to build out our capabilities in-house. This is a hands-on role that will require your direct involvement in all aspects of shaping the Finance function and executing within it. For an incoming Senior Accountant, this presents a unique chance to work directly with the VP of Finance to create a strong financial foundation for the Company.
We are a fully remote team, so you are welcome to live and work anywhere in the US. We also require that you can maintain at least a 3-4 hour overlap with the US-Eastern time zone on most days.

Qualifications
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably working with venture-backed companies.
- Accounting/Finance tools: Proficiency with relevant accounting and finance software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ramp, Stripe, Upflow, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Data analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to use GoogleSheets, Excel, and data visualization software (e.g., Metabase) to interpret and leverage data in decision-making.
- Remote work competency: Proven track record of success in a remote work environment.

What your job will look like
Accounting
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Process journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support the preparation of financial reports for internal stakeholders and investors.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Work closely with the billing team to manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking. Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and receipt of payments from customers.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Financial Management
- Expense Management: Monitor and review expense reports and credit card transactions. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting principles and internal controls. Support external audits and tax filings by preparing necessary documentation
- Financial Analysis: Support the VP of Finance in financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
Ad Hoc Projects
Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed to support the finance team and overall company goals.
