Clinical Support Specialist

Full time • Remote • $88,000.00-$105,000.00

About Motivo:

Motivo Health is helping solve the nation’s behavioral health crisis by supporting therapists through the licensure process. Similar to doctors going through residency, therapists must complete two years of supervised experience following graduate school. Historically, these hours had to be completed in person, but the rise of digital health now allows supervision to occur virtually in most states. Motivo partners with over 170 community mental health organizations, treatment centers, digital health companies, and health plans to provide virtual access to quality, vetted clinical supervisors across all 50 states. As a company, we are committed to our team's personal and professional growth. We believe in giving employees autonomy while holding a high standard of personal responsibility. We look for individuals who are kind, humble, empathic, and coachable. The right candidate will be entrepreneurial - a self-starter who is drawn to opportunities, innovation, and new value creation.

Who we want:

We are seeking a highly organized, process-oriented, and collaborative Clinical Support Specialist (or Senior Clinical Support Specialist, commensurate with experience) who is passionate about regulatory compliance, clinical quality, and supporting behavioral health professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-driven problem solver who thrives on implementing structure, optimizing workflows, and contributing to the systems that support Motivo’s mission.

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, this team member will play a critical role in keeping Motivo’s internal clinical operations accurate, efficient, and aligned with ever-evolving state regulations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with large amounts of complex information—such as state licensure rules—and translating that data into clear, digestible formats for team members, customers, and clinical supervisors. You’ll also support our supervisor vetting process, data collection strategy, and survey management initiatives that ensure clinical quality and user satisfaction.

To thrive in this role, you should be comfortable balancing long-term projects with day-to-day requests, enjoy digging into the details, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You will bring curiosity, precision, and a heart for supporting the Motivo team and clinical supervisors.

We also want a team of people who have an interest in the mental health industry and are driven by the opportunity to expand access to mental health care by creating more efficiency in the therapist licensure process.

We are a fully remote team, so you are welcome to live and work wherever you choose, however, we may prioritize individuals within a certain time zone.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Audit and maintain Motivo’s internal licensure database; monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely communication to stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, timely guidance to internal team, customers, and clinical supervisors on licensure requirements and supervision standards.
  • Vet clinical supervisors for compliance with Motivo and state board requirements; support quality assurance efforts.
  • Implement survey strategy and manage data collection/reporting on clinical quality and user satisfaction surveys.
  • Support Motivo Learning operations by coordinating training events, setting up courses, and managing related communications and customer support.
  • Facilitate community engagement through event support, peer circle coordination, and managing the clinical, compliance, and Motivo Learning inboxes.
  • Lead planning and communication for the Supervisor Advisory Council and contribute to special projects that advance clinical operations and compliance.

Qualities and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, public health, education, or healthcare administration); Master’s degree or clinical background preferred for Senior Associate level.
  • 1–3 years of experience (3–5 for Senior Associate) in a compliance, clinical operations, or administrative role—preferably in a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of state licensure requirements for mental health professionals (LMFT, LPC, LCSW, etc.), or strong ability to quickly learn and navigate regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with proven experience in data auditing, quality assurance, or information management.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools and databases to organize, track, and report information or willingness to develop in this area.
  • Passion for supporting clinicians and advancing the field of supervision and clinical training.
  • Strong and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous startup and/or mental health experience is a plus
  • Exemplary customer voice, someone who quickly and easily establishes trust with our community and exhibits compassion, empathy, and care in the execution of all duties and interactions
  • Acting with a sense of urgency for high priority recruiting needs
  • Regularly identifying problems, needs, and gaps within the company and proactively suggesting solutions
  • Flexible and adaptable, an ability to handle the ambiguity and competing and/or changing priorities of a startup environment
  • A direct, clear, and kind communicator

Compensation and benefits:

  • Competitive salary with equity options
  • Medical, vision, and dental benefits
  • 401k with matching contribution
  • Annual self-care stipend
  • Unlimited PTO, with approval
  • Bereavement leave
  • Paternity/maternity leave
