NCMHCE Exam Prep: Thinking Through the Case Studies (November 5 and 6)

Thursday, November 5, 2026 · 5:00 PM UTC · 240 min

Autumn Hahn

About this webinar

A live two-part prep course for the NCMHCE, led by Autumn Hahn, LMHC, LCPC, NCC, CHt. In a small group, you'll work through NCC-style case studies, answer each question in an anonymous poll, and talk through why the best answer is the best one.

The NCMHCE asks you to think like a clinician across 11 case studies, each following a client from an intake summary through two counseling sessions, with 9 to 15 multiple-choice questions along the way. Doing well depends on reasoning through a case the way the exam expects you to.

In this live two-part series, Autumn Hahn, LMHC, LCPC, NCC, CHt, a counselor and Motivo supervisor who helps her own supervisees prepare for the NCMHCE, works through NCC-style case studies with a small group. Everyone answers each question in an anonymous poll first, then Autumn talks through how to think about the case and why the right answer is right.

Part I: Inside the case studies

We'll start with what the NCMHCE looks like on test day: how each case study is laid out and what stays on screen while you answer. Then we'll work through a full case study together, about 12 questions, and close with the assessments that come up most often on the exam.

Part II: Strategy for the multiple-choice questions

Part II focuses on answering the questions themselves. Autumn teaches test-taking strategy, so you can see the strategy working apart from any clinical content, and then applies it to case material. We'll also cover the remaining exam content areas and leave time for your questions.

What you'll receive

Registered participants receive the recordings and a resource packet to keep studying with. The recordings are shared with registered participants only.

Who it's for

Counselors preparing for the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination. The course isn't state-specific, and it works alongside whatever else you're using to study.

Schedule

Part I on Thursday, November 5 and Part II on Friday, November 6, 2026, 12 to 2pm ET (9 to 11am PT) both days, live on Zoom. Plan to join both parts, since Part II builds on Part I.
