CalMHSA selected Motivo to be the dedicated clinical supervision provider for CalMHSA Member Counties. This means the procurement process and contract negotiations have already taken place, and you are now welcome to utilize Motivo for your county’s clinical supervision needs. 

CalMHSA covers the full cost of supervision for member counties – all you have to do is express interest right here.

Motivo will help free up internal resources that may be providing supervision today so that those clinicians are available for billable time or other administrative duties. Additionally, providing the benefit of clinical supervision through Motivo, has been shown to increase recruitment and retention of clinicians. 

We will work closely with your county to understand your needs. You will be assigned a dedicated Employer Care Manager who will ensure you are matched with the best supervisors for your county, help train supervisors on any internal processes, and remain in close contact with you to ensure we exceed your expectations.

Ensuring the quality of our supervisors is of utmost importance to Motivo. We take great care to match you with the best supervisor for your county’s clinical needs, demographic preferences, and areas of specialty. This starts with an introductory call to gather information about your needs so we can pair you with the right supervisors. 

Absolutely! We verify the licensure credentials of each supervisor on our platform. We also complete a face-to-face alignment call with supervisors to learn more about the supervisor’s experience, areas of expertise, and approach to supervision. Lastly, all Motivo supervisors sign a legal attestation form to verify that they meet the requirements to supervise in their state.

We have nearly 1,200 supervisors, licensed in most states across the following license and certification types:

• Social Workers: (LCSW, LMSW, LICSW, etc)
• Professional Counselors: (LPC, LPCC, LCPC, etc)
• Mental Health Counselors: (LMHC, LCMHC, etc)
• Marriage and Family Therapists: (LMFT, LCMFT, etc)

Good news! We’ve done this research for you! In August of 2022, Governor Newsom signed the Remote Supervision Bill (AB-1758) into law in the state of California, which permits marriage and family therapist, clinical social workers, and professional clinical counselors to obtain supervision toward licensure via live, two-way videoconference. Only a few days! We’ll work with your county to determine which supervisors you’d like to work with, then, we’ll onboard your clinicians to the platform. Your supervisors can begin scheduling sessions with your clinicians immediately!

We sure do! From your employer dashboard, you’ll see a summary of the date, time, and duration of each supervision sessions your clinicians have received through Motivo, as well as the assigned supervisor. You can export a report of these hours as an Excel or PDF document.

Yes! Our supervisors are well-versed in the supervision documentation needs and requirements in California, across all licensure types (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC). They will complete licensure paperwork as needed, at no additional cost.

Both supervisees and supervisors are to provide 24 hours notice to their supervisee or supervisor if they are not able to attend a session. If a supervisee is to cancel within’ that window, they may still be charged for that session at the supervisor’s discretion. 

It depends. Students must obtain permission from their graduate university to utilize Motivo. If that happens, we are happy to match students with a Motivo supervisor.

Motivo’s platform is accessible from anywhere that your clinicians have internet access. Your virtual supervision sessions can be joined from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart phone.
