Hi, friends!

People often ask me a variety of questions about the origin of Motivo. They ask things like,

  • How did you come up with the idea?
  • What inspired you to pursue it full time?
  • How did you find people to invest in Motivo?
  • What have you learned along the way?

I particularly like the last question – What have you learned along the way? I could talk about this for hours (just ask my husband or my therapist).

I’ve learned SO much – about entrepreneurship, about the mental health field, and, certainly, about myself.

As a first time founder, I can tell you that there is a steep learning curve the first time you build a company. I’ve made a number of mis-steps along the way, but each one has helped me grow, learn, and make better decisions the next time.

When I think back on the past few years of building Motivo, I would say that our growth and success has been due to one thing: the team of people who are behind it.

Today, Motivo is a team of 22 people, distributed all over the country (and a few international), who create, build, and grow Motivo, brick-by-brick, every day. They work so hard, facilitating introductions to our supervisors, building product features, implementing smooth and scaleable processes, and delivering work we feel proud of.

Some of our team members you’ve likely spoken to many times. Others are our unsung heroes behind the scenes. But, regardless, every single person here is focused on one thing: increasing the number of licensed mental health professionals in our world.

I put together this little collage so you can put some faces with names.

One important thing to note is that we have a new member of our leadership team – As of this week, Dr. Carla Smith has been promoted to the role of Chief Clinical Officer. 🎉

Dr. Carla isn’t a new face at Motivo – she’s been one of our clinical supervisors since the very beginning and has been featured on many of our panel discussions. She is absolutely the perfect choice to help nurture and develop the clinical health and voice of Motivo. If you want to drop her a congrats, I know she’d love to hear from you – email her here.

When I look at the faces of all the people who have joined me on this journey, one of my favorite quotes comes to mind, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Together is such a powerful word, isn’t it? The last two years has forced us to create new and innovate ways of building meaningful connections. The importance of togetherness, of community, is something I find myself no longer taking for granted. Life is better when lived in connection with others.

My hope is that you will consider Motivo as an extension of your professional community. We are here for you – to help facilitate great clinical supervision matches, to create opportunities for learning and connection, and to celebrate the milestones on your journey as a clinician.

We’ve seen more and more activity over in our Motivo Community – and if you haven’t had a chance to pop in and introduce yourself, ask a question, or share a resource – we welcome you to do so right here.

Warmly,

Rachel
